Week of October 1, 2014

It is really fall. It is hard to believe that it is, as we have had the most amazing stretch of weather. But, so it is.

In the last three weeks temperatures have varied from the high 30″s F. to nearly 90! But, in all of this time there has been little, if any rain. One golden day has followed another, to everyone’s delight, except for farmers, who really, really need it.

The consequences are the ground is iron hard, with no give to it as it is so contracted. And, the New England fall colors are dependent on rain at the right time. No rain, the colors are muted, though still beautiful.

During this time Spot and I have been able to get out for a lot of walks. Hopefully I can get pictures up this week! And, it is a good thing we have been able to do so. Spot loves his walks, but as the days shorten, it is problematic to get them in at the end of each day!

TUESDAY- September 30, 2014

We have a lot of new fabrics to list. Just when I think things are caught up, the row of bolts along the counter stack up! We hope to start on them later this week, as soon as it clears enough to have better light.

One of the patterns listed were the new
Venice Fabrics.
These are, truthfully, amazing!
They have the look of antique paintings!

THURSDAY- October 2, 2014

The sun has come out! Yes! After days of clouds with no rain, it is nice to see it! And outside, though warm, there is a coolness to the air. And, for the first time it smells of fall! That incredible smell that comes from drying leaves is in the air! And when walking, the leaves make their fall scrunching sound. Fall in New England!

And nothing says fall
as much as the Retro Scandinavian style leaf fabric!

Because of the sun we were able to get some pictures! We have been asked for more ikats, and we have five new ikat fabrics in. There is one indigo ikat fabric, very traditional, in a nice small scale, a bold orange and grey pattern, two ikats that are quite different, and one ikat done as a chevron pattern in blues. They should be up tomorrow, so watch the fabric blog.
