French red toile fabric neoclassic Double wide |
|||||
A French red toile de Jouy fabric with a neoclassic pattern! This is an exciting find. PLEASE NOTE: This fabric is double the width of most American fabrics. It is a whopping 111" wide. It comes in folded down the middle, before being put onto a core. The overall picture shows half of the width. Diana, or Artemis, depending on whether one is Roman or Greek, is the goddess of the moon, of animals, of the hunt, virginity, and birth. Here she is shown, wearing a crescent moon in her hair, on a hunt. She is surrounded by woman, running with a pack of dogs, after a stag. Two other vignettes are shown. One has angels holding a framed medalion of a neo-classical man's head; the other shows a man examining the hoof of a donkey. This is done in three tones of red from a pale milky pink through a mid-red to a deep true red. The darkness of the pattern parts depends on how closely the lines that make the pattern are placed. The background is white. The effect from a distance is true red on white. This fabric is 111" wide. Artemis is just over 7 1/2" (19.05 cm. ) from her upright hand to her lower foot. This has a tight smooth weave. It is a mid-weight home decorating fabric that is perfect for curtains, cushions, totes, etc. This is for a yard ( 36" ) cut.
