Baronial Style

Baronial style is an actual style of Scottish castle architecture! It rose out of the gothic revival popular in the late Victorian era, and continued until WW1. The buildings were adorned with towers, turrets, gables, crenelated roof lines, and anything and everything but the kitchen sink. Think over-done castle and you get the idea!

But, in home decorating it has a slightly different meaning. Though Scottish, the look is appropriate for libraries and masculine rooms. Fabrics with deep colors and a heavy feeling are appropriate. Think German and Russian baronial country homes in winter!
