June in the meadows is a time of change. The early spring flowers are gone, and the later ones are on the cusp of leaving. Spring is ended.<\/p>\n

On June 14th Spot and I took a long meadow walk.
\nIt was warm and beautiful!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The first field had been mowed.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"Maine<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It was a glorious day!
\nThere was a breeze, and the smell of cut grass said “summer”.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"wild<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Underneath the trees, \u00a0the tall grass was starred with wild flowers.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The next field had not been cut.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It was filled with salsify seed heads.
\nThey are like a dandelion head on steroids!<\/p>\n

As Spot and I walk after work, we rarely see the flower,
\nas they close before noon.<\/p>\n

On a walk early on Sunday,
\na few flowers were still open.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A field of them is enchanting.<\/p>\n

In the back meadow Spot contemplates which way to go!<\/p>\n

The meadow is filled with color,
\nwhich changes as one walks along.<\/p>\n

Buttercups and rheum create waves of yellow and coral pink.<\/p>\n

The rheum stands tall,
\nwaving gently in the breeze,
\nwhile the buttercups sway below.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A froth of flowers adds a touch of white near the path’s edge.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"Maine<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"Pink<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The pink clover says it is summer!<\/p>\n

\"Vetch\"<\/p>\n

Vetch is added to the mix.<\/p>\n

\"Centaurea\"<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

And the first centaurea have opened their flowers.<\/p>\n

As the season progresses the colors will change from the predominating yellow and coral of the buttercups and rheum to the pinks of the centaurea.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In the back meadow, the sky changes very quickly.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

It is often very dramatic.<\/p>\n

Along the woods the Cornus are in bloom.<\/p>\n

Rounding the last part of the meadow, the plants are nearly above my head!<\/p>\n

The woods back to the first meadow are cool.
\nBlackberries are in bloom!<\/p>\n

On the other side of the woods, as we end our walk,
\nthe sky is filled with moving cloudsand the fields with moving grass.<\/p>\n

Earth and sky in balance.<\/p>\n
