I think the large doubles are really over-blown, and the plants to me seem messy.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, late in the year, I visited a local nursery, and there was a peony on one of the benches. It was a single, and an amazing, glowing cherry with white. \u00a0I lost my heart to it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1746\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1746\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cherry Pink Peony<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">It was in a large pot, \u00a0which was missing half the dirt.<br \/>\nIt was unmarked, and no one knew what the variety it was.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">It needed a home&#8230; I gave it one.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I took it home, planted it, and as it was so late in the season,<br \/>\nchecked it for heaving, adding more dirt if needed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">This spring it bloomed!<br \/>\nAnd talk about a surprise!!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">It started deep red, with some brick undertones.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1746\" changed to glowing cherry.<br \/>\nBacklit, the flowers literally glowed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1747 aligncenter\" center;\">Every day were new color changes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">As it matured it turned to a pale pink with deeper lilac tones at the base.<br \/>\nBelow shows the difference between the early bud,<br \/>\nand the flower before it dropped it&#8217;s petals.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1744 aligncenter\" center;\">In Maine, in June, peonies seem to be everywhere.<br \/>\nAnd while there are some singles,<br \/>\nthe majority I have seen are doubles.<br \/>\nI still prefer the simple loveliness of the have tried looking for this plant in online nurseries, to find the name of it.<br \/>\nBut, with all the color changes the flowers on this go through,<br \/>\nit seems impossible to categorize.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I would love a whole group of this variety,<br \/>\nand look forward to being able to divide it\u00a0in a few years.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure
