For one and all this time in December is wonderful…holidays, the winter solstice, New Years… a time rich in many traditions.

Christmas week started off with rain at 26 degrees F. (-3.33 C). Sunday it was a slow steady rain, that left everything covered in ice. The driveway was a skating rink. The Brick House has a very steep driveway… It has to be sanded. I called our plow guy, but his sander was down, so I called a back-up who kindly came and did it so Christine and Taber would not kill themselves getting into the house!

I managed to get up and around the barn and down the side of the house to the bird feeder. I waded through ice on 14″ of snow. Peanuts were set out for the squirrels, and all feeders filled.

It rained through out the day. There was some wind, and lights flickered, but we did not lose power. By evening it was really treacherous anywhere but the main roads. I needed to do a few errands and headed into town. At that point it poured! Ice, rain, and pitch dark… I was glad to get back home!

This morning, Tuesday, the trees are beautiful with their white coating of ice. It is still over-cast, but the rain seems to be over.

There are a few packages to get out this morning, and then Brick House Fabrics will be closed until Thursday.

We wish one and all a very happy holiday season!

_____________________________________

THURSDAY, December 26, 2013

We hope everyone had a wonderful, safe, holiday. One day after Christmas seems to short a time to be back at work! And Spot feels the same way. Being iced in does not agree with a dog that is meant to be outside running! But, the meadows are iced over. So, we headed down to Pemaquid Beach for a Spot Walk. I hope to have the pictures up this weekend.

NEW FABRICS

There are a lot of new fabrics that need to be listed.

They are:
6 Indiennes,
5 Sea Shells,
4 Floral Toiles,
3 Paisley Patterns
2 Jungle Prints,
and a Rooster in a Barn Yard.

(Try singing it to a
Partridge in a Pear Tree! )

We are now alternating work on the basic mega sample fabrics. But, we did get one of a group of ticking stripes listed this morning.

This group of ticking stripes are special order from the mill, available by the yard. These have a dark mid-line thread, bordered by two thinner, lighter stripes, giving a slightly ombred look to the pattern. The colors are mostly muted, and they work with a good number of other fabrics we have.

OMBRED TICKING STRIPE FABRIC

These come in
black, chocolate brown, brown/grey, grey
sage green, yellow, pink, red, and
seaglass blue and blue.

See them in the
Basics, Striped Fabric category.

It is Christmas eve!
