Spring was here!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Ha!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">On Thursday a storm blew in, and I mean blew!<br \/>\nThere is nothing like a Nor&#8217;easter!<br \/>\nA Nor&#8217;easter comes in from over the ocean,<br \/>\ncarrying either wet snow or heavy rain,<br \/>\nwith high counter clockwise winds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">And this is what hit us just before Easter weekend.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4049\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Noreaster-Easter-Weekend-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"367\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Noreaster-Easter-Weekend-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Noreaster-Easter-Weekend-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Noreaster-Easter-Weekend-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Noreaster-Easter-Weekend.jpg 1440w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">It dropped 8&#8243; of very heavy wet snow on us. And, I mean heavy&#8230; it was like cement!<br \/>\nThere were smashed shrubs, downed trees, and downed power lines.<br \/>\nA Nor&#8217;easter with snow will coat every twig with snow.<br \/>\nIt can be extremely beautiful.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">And, it can be extremely destructive.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">But, as I drove to work, I thought this is really winter&#8217;s farewell&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4051\" center;\">Right after the snowy Nor&#8217;easter,<br \/>\nwhich knocked out power for many,<br \/>\nwe had another one,<br \/>\nonly it was rain and wind.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">It also knocked out power.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">But, the Chiondoxa were unfazed!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0The large Crocus hybrids showed up soon after.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The Dutch hybrid Flower Record<br \/>\nis a showy thing,<br \/>\nespecially in large groups!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"text-align: center;\">Bold and beautiful, it is set off by the white wire edge along the flower petals.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">The next bulbs to come were the<br \/>\nsmall, delicate Scilla mischtschenkoana.<br \/>\nThis used to be Scilla tubereniana ;<br \/>\nwhy it has been renamed?\u00a0 I have no idea.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">This has naturalized in the lawn,<br \/>\nand has formed clusters of the delicate flowers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4058\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4058\" style=\"width: withstands everything the weather throws at it,<br \/>\nand blooms for about six weeks!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Down in the meadow they are interspersed with<br \/>\nScilla siberica that has naturalized,<br \/>\nmaking a lovely patch of spring.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large bulbs and flowers are one sign of spring.<br \/>\nBut, another are sounds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Throughout all of this one becomes aware of sounds one has not heard for a long time.<br \/>\nThere is the sound of running water from snow melt,<br \/>\nas it tumbles down the hill, flows under the road and makes it way to Great Salt Bay<br \/>\nor to a marsh and then to the river.<br \/>\nThere is the sound of white throated sparrows<br \/>\nand the cry of of the ospreys.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">And, then the sound we all wait for-<br \/>\nthe sound of the tree frogs!<br \/>\nThat incessant peep peep peep<br \/>\nthat starts up in the evening and lasts til dawn!<br \/>\nOnce one hears that people know spring has finally come!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">And, with a little warmth,<br \/>\nleaves unfurl, and<br \/>\na veil of green slowly emerges.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\"
