So, in the last blog post, which was a post that was as much as reminiscing about the past couple of years as much as it was about looking forward, published January 4 of this year, I suggested that we all need things in our lives that gives us a positive feel, something that we could hold on to.\u00a0 And, the first image was that of a sunrise over a friend’s barn.<\/p>\n

So, at 2 am the other evening, the light bulb went on, and I went “practice what you preach”!<\/p>\n

So, I am going to try to take a shot, each day of a sunrise or sunset. My goal is a month of them.<\/p>\n

So, this morning I begin. I actually am excited by this. I think it is a great motivator. And, it is, for me, something that I can do that I enjoy, and can feel positive about doing.<\/p>\n

And, no one can take the sunrise or sunset away… it is there waiting!<\/p>\n

January 7, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

Okay, I knew it was going to snow-
\nwe ALL knew it was going to snow.<\/p>\n

I mean, it is Maine, it is winter, it snows!!!<\/p>\n

So, I get up,
\nand yes, it is snowing…
\nit is POURING snow…<\/p>\n

The light was flat, the clouds were low…<\/p>\n

SUNRISE? HA!<\/p>\n

So, much for good intentions!!!<\/p>\n

I took these from the back parking lot
\nof Damariscotta,
\naround 7:30, this morning.<\/p>\n

The Damariscotta River is tidal,
\nand the tides this week have been very, very high and low.
\nLow tide was at 8:45,
\nso, it was not quite dead low tide.<\/p>\n

The white streaks in the pictures are the snow falling.
\nIt was a very wet, heavy snow,
\nbut though the snow was similar to that of a Nor’easter,
\ncoming in off of the water,
\nthis was not one.
\nIt was just a snow storm
\nwith wet heavy snow.<\/p>\n

The inner basin was filled with
\nCanadian geese.<\/p>\n

It took me a moment to figure out what all
\nthe white was!<\/p>\n

\u00a0They were covered with patches of snow!!!<\/p>\n

If anyone has any pictures of things they are doing,
\nthat is making their lives better in any way,
\nsend them in!!!<\/p>\n

It would be nice to share them!<\/p>\n

So, I ran into a few snags with this…
\nthe main one being,
\nI can take the pictures,
\nbut, I can not get them edited and up every day.<\/p>\n

So, this project is morphing a bit…
\nI will try to post them on Wednesdays and Saturday.<\/p>\n

SATURDAY- January 9, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

Okay, I admit it-
\nI whimped out.
\nSaturday morning it was 17\u00b0\u00a0 F ( -8.333\u00b0 C ),
\nand, I just did NOT want to get out of bed!<\/p>\n

So, feeling a bit guilty,
\nI took pictures of the sunset!
\nIt was a balmy 27\u00b0\u00a0 F ( -2.778\u00a0\u00b0 C )<\/p>\n

The narrow paths above are the tracks of
\nwild turkeys!<\/p>\n

Wild turkeys were once native in Maine.
\nBut, in the 1800’s the turkey population was depleted,
\npartially due to hunting, but also to their habitat being lost as
\nforests were turned into farmland.<\/p>\n

In 1977 the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife
\nintroduced them into the state-
\nwhere they have thrived.<\/p>\n

It was 24\u00b0 F ( -4.444\u00b0 C ) at around 6:30.
\nThe sky over Damariscotta was just beginning to lighten.
\nThe spire is that of the
\nDamariscotta Baptist Church.<\/p>\n
