{"id":565,"date":"2015-05-11T00:03:24","date_gmt":"2015-05-11T00:03:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev.brickhousefabrics.com\/blog\/?p=565"},"modified":"2016-04-28T10:40:15","modified_gmt":"2016-04-28T10:40:15","slug":"week-of-may-11-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/blog\/week-of-may-11-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"Week of May 11, 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"img_caption left\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"caption\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/images\/stories\/Birds-real\/tv-144.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"144\" align=\"left\" border=\"0\" \/><\/div>\n<p class=\"noindent\">Last week spring arrived!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"center\">Every year, before the trees leaf out, turkey vultures roost in the trees around the house.<br \/>\nThey arrive at dusk, and leave early in the morning.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/images\/stories\/Birds-real\/tv-may-2015-500.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These are big birds, with a six foot wing span.<\/p>\n<p>They perch, looking like gargoyles.<br \/>\nThey drive Spot nuts.<br \/>\nHe just does not know what to do about these intruders.<\/p>\n<p>The first year I think he thought they were large squirrels,<br \/>\nand barked and barked at them.<br \/>\nHe has figured out they are not squirrels, but still barks and growls at them.<br \/>\nThey could care less about a mere dog, and ignore him.<\/p>\n<p>In the morning around 6:15 one or two of them stretch their wings,<br \/>\nand take off,<br \/>\nto check the temperature to see if it is warm enough to ride the thermals.<br \/>\nThey make one or two circles out over the road, and come back.<br \/>\nAfter about half an hour they set out for the day.<br \/>\nStretching out their wings fully,<br \/>\nthey launch themselves,<br \/>\nsoaring on the rising air.<br \/>\nSeeing six do this in unison is an awesome sight!<\/p>\n<p>They head toward the marsh,<br \/>\nreturning at dusk.<\/p>\n<p>And then, one day,<br \/>\nafter the weather has warmed,<br \/>\nand leaves are out,<br \/>\nthey leave, not to return until the following spring.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/images\/stories\/logo\/dragonfly%20hor.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last week spring arrived! &nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[6,3],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/565"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=565"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/565\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1524,"href":"https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/565\/revisions\/1524"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=565"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=565"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=565"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
