Day after day of clear weather, with cool nights and warm days. On the last weekend of September Spot and I needed a break from fall chores. We got into the car, and headed to Camden.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>At this time of year the bulk of the tourists have left, leaving roads and towns quieter. A calmer pace of life ensues, leaving all able to enjoy the fall. The trees along edges of swamps and marshes showed fall colors, grasses and ferns are turning golden, and day light sensitive plants are losing their leaves, as the days shorten. The trip to Camden was quiet, filled with leaves that were tinged with color, and mown fields lying in the mellow fall sun.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"center\">We drove into Camden and parked near the library, at the head of the harbor.<\/p>\n<p>The day had started out with misty fog<br \/>\ncaught in the trees at home,<br \/>\nwhich had burned off by 11 am, as we left the house.<\/p>\n<p>In Camden fog was rising off of the water.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/images\/stories\/Camden-fall\/Camden-9-29-13-e.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"center\">Out beyond the inner harbor,<br \/>\none could see a solid bank of fog just where the inner harbor and outer harbor merge.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/images\/stories\/Camden-fall\/Camden-9-29-13-c.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"center\">The harbor was full of schooners and boats.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/images\/stories\/Camden-fall\/Camden-9-29-13-b.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"center\">It was dead low tide.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/images\/stories\/Camden-fall\/Camden-9-29-13-f.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"center\">Spot and I weren&#8217;t the only ones busy with fall chores.<br \/>\nThe windjammers were being striped for the winter.<\/p>\n<p>Some boats already had had their masts unstepped.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/images\/stories\/Camden-fall\/Camden-9-29-13-g.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"center\">As this was just a quick outing,<br \/>\nwe did not go down the main street.<br \/>\nThe dock in full sun is too hot for Spot.<br \/>\nSo we wandered around the library grounds.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/images\/stories\/Camden-fall\/camden-9-29-13-i.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"center\">The grounds around the library include the Camden amphitheater.<br \/>\nHere plays, music, art shows, and weddings are held.<br \/>\nAnd across the street is the park.<\/p>\n<p>From both one gets a spectacular view.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"center\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.brickhousefabrics.com\/images\/stories\/Camden-fall\/Camden-9-29-13-d.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"center\">After wandering through the gardens<br \/>\nand the park<br \/>\nwe got back into the car and headed home,<br \/>\na short, but thoroughly enjoyable outing for a fall day!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This fall the weather has been unbelievable.
