The weather is at its summer&#8217;s best, the sky is blue, and water is sparkling. This fleeting time is one to savor.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>August races by so quickly! Each day is filled with activites. Each town has their &#8220;Days&#8221; to celebrate their town&#8217;s history, festivals abound- blueberry, lobster, pirates&#8230; everything is an occasion to enjoy. But, while a few of these can be fun, away from the madding crowd is for some of us, how we like to enjoy these last days of summer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"center\">Swallows on wires are a sure sign of August!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/brickhousefabrics.com\/images\/stories\/August\/august-swallows-500.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In shallow lake waters the arrowhead blooms<br \/>\ncreates a haze of purple blue.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/brickhousefabrics.com\/images\/stories\/August\/august-arrowhead-500.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Ponds are filled with waterlilies!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/brickhousefabrics.com\/images\/stories\/August\/august-waterlily-500.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Queen Anne&#8217;s Lace fills<br \/>\nmeadows.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/brickhousefabrics.com\/images\/stories\/August\/august-queen-annes-lace-500.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In hedgerows and orchards apples ripen.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/brickhousefabrics.com\/images\/stories\/August\/august-apples-500.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On the edges of fields<br \/>\nthe baled hay looks like giant marshmallows.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/brickhousefabrics.com\/images\/stories\/August\/august-hay-500.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And sunflowers are in their full glory!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/brickhousefabrics.com\/images\/stories\/August\/august-fields-500.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Out on the water<br \/>\nthere are stellar days to enjoy,<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/brickhousefabrics.com\/images\/stories\/August\/august-rockland-500-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>as the first fall leaves signal the end of the summer.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/brickhousefabrics.com\/images\/stories\/August\/august-leaf-500.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>______________________________________<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Maine in August is magical.
