Against a mountainous landscape a crane takes flight, watched by a pair on the ground. There are stunted pines and other trees, some of them flowering. There is a gracefulness to this pattern, the flow of the mountains, the flight of the cranes, which is different from many chinoiseries.

Colors are ink tones of charcoal and grey, some with undertones of brown, with touches of muted sepia gold. The background is white. The effect from a distant is tones of charcoal and grey, some with brown undertones with some muted gold on white.
