WEDNESDAY- October 30, 2013

It is hard to believe that it is almost the end of October! But, the trees have lost most of their leaves, and the last few days, the morning temperature is in the 20’s F. The frost is, indeed on the pumpkin!

Pumpkinfest was the week of Columbus Day weekend,
and while some of the pumpkins remain in the town,
most have been taken away.

See the Pumpkinfest highlights!

This year we went to

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

This week the days have been starting in the ’20’s. It has been COLD. And this morning was no exception- it was 24 degrees this morning, with heavy frost on the fields below us. And, now at 4:00 pm, it is raining.

Cold trick or treating is not uncommon here… children are usually in winter clothing! But, the rain certainly puts the kibosh on things for children!

But, tomorrow is supposed to be nearly 65 degrees F., but with heavy rain.

BRICK HOUSE FABRICS
goes brick and mortar.

We decided to open a brick and mortar store in the house a few months ago. But, getting this to be operational has been, at times, frustrating. Workman have had to finish outside work, or taken several jobs, which has delayed the work here. The sign for the road had to go to a full design review. Little things like that kept cropping up.

But, today the roofers put the roof on what will be the screen porch that is replacing the old sun porch that needed replacing. And then the builders arrived to measure for supplies to finish the inside work.

BABY STEPS!

Next week the Town Design Review Board meets, and then the sign guy can finish that up… so, slowly we are getting there!

We have fabric everywhere inside, waiting to move it into the new space. And today, 27 bolts of fabric arrived… we can not wait for the space to be finished!

NEW WOVEN FABRICS

Back in July, before the mills in Europe closed, we were sent pictures of several new woven fabrics. We got samples, and put in the orders. Some of them arrived today. We have a new ikat, a classic arabesque with peacocks, and a really interesting moth and bug pattern. All of the colors did not arrive. But, what we did get looks great! So, watch the fabric blog as we will get them up ASAP.
