Easter Week, 2013 – 31 March 2013

HAPPY EASTER!

SUNDAY- March 31, 2013

Though there is ice on lakes and ponds, and snow along old rock walls, and in forest glades, signs of spring are here. One hears white throated sparrows calling, and wood peckers drilling into trees. For gardeners, the first sign of spring is the snow drop. And just in time for Easter mine are up and showing white!

They push their way up through the winter thatch,
literally growing up through old leaves.

A patch of them is a delight.

Closed at night, when open they sway in the slightest breeze!

Fabric Highlights Blog

SATURDAY- April 6, 2012

This week was one bizarre week! On Tuesday there were bolts of fabric going in every direction- France, Japan, New Zealand, and England. And right in the middle of doing a commercial export invoice the printer died.

I have bad printer karma. So, I always get the extended warranty for a printer. But, before the company will replace a printer, it needs to be pronounced dead. That took an hour and a half on the phone with tech support.

Label printing then had to be done on the back-up printer which is very old, and using an old computer that is very slow, as the printer does not recognize mine! By the end of the day I was frazzled!

Wednesday the fabric all got cut and packed, and then the labels had to be done on the old printer. About 11 in the morning the new printer showed up, but there was not time to set it up until late in the afternoon. I called tech support back to have them help with it.

Thursday things were clicking along, the printer running nicely, when the internet went out for several hours!

Friday, I am happy to say, was rather quiet, giving me time to catch up on paper work. And then Spot and I went out for a much needed beach walk!

I am glad we did as today the wind is howling, and it is a cold 34 degrees F.!

FABRIC NEWS

In February I put in a very large order with a company in Europe. I was emailed that it should be in this coming week! This is very exciting. There are eighteen new patterns coming! From what I remember there are a new horse fabric, a lagoon reef fabric, a shell fabric, a coral fabric, an Italian poster fabric, a Scandinavian animal fabric, and I can not remember what else!

The horse pattern has a scritchy scene of riders on willow green or soft greyed blue. The lagoon pattern has a swimming turtle, and comes in bright colors. The shell co-ordinates. The coral fabric is an over-all pattern- including a neutral. The Italian poster fabric is retro with bold coloring, and the Scandinavian animal fabric is charming.

So, watch the fabric blog over the next two weeks for updates!

We also heard that the much sought after reversible star fish fabric should also be in this week. This fabric is made in the USA, and is woven to order. As some may remember, in a strange string of events, a whole bolt got snapped up in two days, last time it came in! That has left several people waiting on it, so we will all be glad when it arrives. We also ordered a companion fabric, with sand dollars! But, it is still back ordered.

We are also trying to work with the mill, to expand the colors for some of their fabrics. I would like to see some sea glass colors, as well as a deep chocolate! I will keep you updated on that!

The reversible seashell fabric in turquoise/cream is also very popular. I called to get a new bolt, and to my dismay found that it is back-ordered until mid-June! As I can not go out into the back yard and set up a loom to weave it, we will all need to be patient!
